Abstract

A woman in the tribal community suffers from various diseases. These diseases are of two types- supernatural and physiological. Physiological diseases are not considered diseases till they become chronic. The diseases are also supernatural according to the tribal women's mindset. So the related cures are also sacerdotal. The perception of both disease causation and cure is governed by superstition and related taboos in any Indian tribal community.
